Dr Shyam Nagubandi is a Locum Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist & Endoscopist (ABN: 80 310 613 190) consulting at the Earlwood centre.
Dr Shyam Nagubandi is a Sydney-based Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist who is passionate about providing comprehensive and individualised care to all his patients.
Dr Shyam has a broad range of interests with particular focus on iron deficiency, colorectal cancer screening, oesophageal disorders, liver disease (including alcoholic liver disease), inflammatory bowel disease and other general gastroenterology conditions. He is skilled in both diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopies and colonoscopies and has up-to-date accreditations.
Raised in Sydney, Dr Shyam attended North Sydney Boys High School and completed his medical degree at the University of New South Wales. He completed his internal medicine physician training at Westmead and Nepean Hospitals. This was followed by further dual training in both Gastroenterology/Hepatology and Addiction Medicine at Westmead, Blacktown and Gosford hospitals.
After receiving his Fellowship with the Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), he completed an Interventional Endoscopy fellowship at Royal North Shore Hospital. He is certified by the Australian Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRTGE) for gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
Dr Shyam is a clinical lecturer and supervisor through the University of Sydney, teaching medical students, junior doctors and advanced trainees. He believes in continuous learning and evidence-based medicine, and has a number of journal and poster submissions on the national and international stages. Dr Shyam advocates for patient education, recently publishing factsheets for metabolic-related fatty liver disease circulated by the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA). He continues to pursue his Masters in Epidemiology.
For the past three years, Dr Shyam has continued to work in North Western Sydney, with public and private affiliations, as a Staff Specialist at the Western Sydney Local Health District, and Norwest Hospital.
Dr Shyam has a genuine and approachable manner. He is compassionate and always has the patient's best interest at heart.
