About the service

The whole child, not one concern.

General paediatric care is the assessment and management of the common, and the ongoing, health concerns of childhood, from infancy through adolescence. Some visits are one-off reviews for a particular question; others become a longer clinical relationship across your child's growing years.

Kids' Dr paediatricians see the whole picture. A sleep or feeding problem is considered alongside development, behaviour and family context. Where it helps, your paediatrician can draw in psychology and counselling, child and adolescent psychiatry, dietetics, speech pathology, physiotherapy and podiatry within the same team, without a separate referral out.

Dr Moe Moe Thinn is a Consultant Developmental and General Paediatrician. Dr Martina Popelkova is a General Paediatrician with a special clinical interest in complex behavioural matters alongside general paediatric care.

What we help with

Common reasons families come.

A snapshot of the common questions that bring families to Kids' Dr. If you're not sure whether your concern fits, reception is a good first stop.
Sleep.

Settling, night waking, routines that have stopped working, or sleep that isn't fitting your family. Practical, evidence-informed strategies matched to your child's age and stage.

Feeding & growth.

Fussy eating, weight and growth concerns, and nutrition questions. Coordinated with our dietitians where a more structured plan helps.

Tummy & continence.

Reflux in infants, ongoing constipation, toileting, bedwetting and soiling. Common issues that benefit from a paediatric review when they're not settling.

Common & recurrent illness.

Recurrent infections, persistent coughs, general unwellness, and the tricky question of when to worry and when to watch and wait.

Ongoing conditions.

Review and coordination of asthma, eczema and allergy, and other chronic paediatric conditions your child already lives with.

Development, behaviour & mental health.

A first port of call, with clear pathways into formal assessment or into child and adolescent psychiatry when a child's mental-health picture is more complex.

FAQ

Common questions.

Do I need a referral?

Yes. A GP referral is required for the Medicare rebate to apply to paediatric consultations. Your usual GP or one of ours can prepare it.

What ages do you see?

Infants, children and adolescents.

How do I book?

General paediatric bookings are handled by reception. Please call the closest Kids' Dr centre, and have your GP referral to hand.

Can Kids' Dr coordinate with allied health?

Yes. Where relevant, your paediatrician can draw in psychology and counselling, child and adolescent psychiatry, dietetics, speech pathology, physiotherapy and podiatry within the Kids' Dr team, without a separate referral out.

What should we bring to the first appointment?

Your GP referral, any prior specialist letters or hospital summaries, a list of your child's current medications, growth records or health-record book, and school reports where relevant.

When should we consider a paediatric review?

Any time a concern about your child isn't settling with primary care, or where you'd like a specialist opinion on a common issue. Your GP will help you decide whether a paediatric referral is the right next step.
