Speech pathology for children and adults across all ages (dysphagia not currently offered). Sarah Impellizzeri consults through Kids' Dr at Earlwood and Sans Souci, in sessions of 1 hour. Book directly, or through a GPCCMP for a Medicare rebate. For eligible children with a complex neurodevelopmental condition or an eligible disability, the Complex Neurodevelopmental / Eligible Disability pathway (M10) may also apply.
Communication across all ages.
Speech pathologists work with communication across the life course. They assess and treat concerns with speech (how words are produced), language (how words are understood and used), voice, and fluency (stuttering).
Sarah Impellizzeri is our speech pathologist, consulting through Kids' Dr at Earlwood and Sans Souci. She sees children and adults across all ages, working alongside our Kids' Dr paediatricians for paediatric development, autism, ADHD and related presentations, and independently with adult patients on speech, language, voice and fluency. Dysphagia (swallowing) is the one clinical area not currently offered.

Speech pathology is delivered by Sarah Impellizzeri at both Earlwood Medical Centre and Sans Souci Doctors. Reception can help with day and time availability at your preferred centre.

Speech pathology sessions with Sarah Impellizzeri are privately billed. Medicare rebates may apply under a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP) prepared by your GP, which allows access to a limited number of rebated sessions per year. For eligible children with a complex neurodevelopmental condition or an eligible disability, the Complex Neurodevelopmental / Eligible Disability pathway (M10) may also apply.
Private health fund rebates apply for patients with speech pathology extras cover; check with your health fund. NDIS funding is accepted for self-managed participants only; plan-managed and NDIA-managed arrangements are not currently supported.

Common questions.
Do I need a referral?
No. Speech pathology can be booked directly with Sarah. A GP referral under a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP) is required to access the Medicare rebate, and for eligible children, the Complex Neurodevelopmental / Eligible Disability pathway (M10) may also apply.
How long is a session?
All sessions are 1 hour, whether assessment or follow-up.
How many sessions will I need?
That varies significantly by the concern. Sarah will discuss expectations at the first session.
Does Sarah see adults?
Yes. Sarah sees children and adults across all ages. The one exception is dysphagia (swallowing difficulties), which is not currently offered.
Can I use my NDIS plan?
Yes, but only for self-managed NDIS participants. Speech pathology is not currently available through NDIA-managed or plan-managed arrangements. Discuss at booking.
Is speech pathology different from speech therapy?
The two terms are used interchangeably in Australia. "Speech pathology" is the term used by the professional body (Speech Pathology Australia); "speech therapy" is commonly used in everyday language.
